Eman Barakat

22 November – 24 December 2025
Opening
Saturday 22 November, 7–9 pm

Barra is pleased to inaugurate its Cairo programme with Egyptian sculptor Eman Barakat (b. 1988, Giza). The exhibition is a solo show featuring a decade of Eman Barakat’s sculptural practice from 2015 to 2025.

Barakat’s sculpture practice is driven by the expressive potential of form. Her works often begin with a geometric premise that she deconstructs and reconfigures to sustain a dialogue between constituent elements, allowing each composition to embody a psychological or spatial condition. Geometry, line, and volume are thus employed as formal vehicles in her practice to convey states of being.

Barra seeks to explore how space influences the display and reception of Barakat’s sculptural language. The exhibition is held in a partially transformed clinic, allowing her works to exist simultaneously within the contexts of a traditional gallery, domestic architecture, and a clinic environment.
